About the artist... Robin Hages resides in Lexington Heights, Michigan. He attended Western Michigan University and the College for Creative Studies in Detroit and embarked on the mission to build his own glass studio upon graduation. In 2004, Spun Gallery opened its doors, where Robin offers glass blowing classes and demonstrations. Additionally, a multi-media art gallery was established, as well as Patio Pastries, Bakery & Gourmet To-Go Foods. Robin has won several “Best in Show” awards at Michigan Art Fairs and many other honors over the years. His work is displayed at several galleries across the state including: Detroit Artists Market, Lansing Art Gallery, Water Street Gallery in Saugatuck, and Next Step Studios in Ferndale, to name a few. For the second year in a row, Robin has exhibited at the critically acclaimed International Sculpture Objects & Functional Art Fair (SOFA) in Chicago.
Robin gathers much of his inspiration from the environment and gave us a glimpse of passion for his art in the following statement: “Living here most of my life I feel a strong connection to nature and most influential is Lake Huron, whose waves I hear beating the shoreline as I walk home late at night. The characteristics of the glass best reminds me of the life cycle of spontaneous creation. In a short time the glass goes from molten liquid to a solid in just the same way as I observe the expanse of water through the seasons. I’m proud to state that this is my lifestyle.”
